The Re-emergence of David Bowie

He's just recently launched a new album "The New Day" after a 10-year hiatus and boy, did he come back with a bang! "The New Day" was numero uno on The UK Album Chart for a week..

*Squeals!!!*

David Bowie - The Next Day

I've loved David Bowie since I was a kid watching Labyrinth for the first time. There's just a little something special about him that captivates and I cannot put in words what it is exactly. Yes, I agree with many that the sights and sounds of David Bowie are questionable but then again, maybe he's just an acquired taste and I have acquired that taste.

David Bowie portraying Jareth in Labyrinth

And when he made a guest appearance on Zoolander... you know Bowie knows fashion... Haha... I know Zoolander is a parody of the fashion world but it's undeniable that he is the epitome of forward fashion and he's sporting about it and that's what counts.

David Bowie in Zoolander

And then on another end of the spectrum, there's just something so effortlessly chic and classy about him. He just ages so gracefully...

Effortlessly Chic
And the Victoria & Albert Museum in London just unveiled the "David Bowie Exhibit"! At this moment, I would willingly abandon my intense dislike for crowds and close proximity with strangers and join the thousands of fans thronging to the exhibit. I wouldn't do it for the Olympics, but I'd do it for the Bowie :)

Unstoppable

 *****

You find your faith has been lost and shaken
You take back what's been taken
Get on your knees and get down deep
You can do what you think is impossible

Keep on believing and don't give in
It will come and make you whole again
It always will and always does
Love is Unstoppable

I'm not a big fan of country music, but I'm totally blown away by this when I was the reruns of the 10th Season... Love!!!

Miss Saigon in the Netherlands

It's here!

Well, it's been here since September last year but I've been out of touch with my blog then, so I'm making up for lost time here. When I found out that it was showing here, I was over-the-moon, love drunk, delirious!  I'm so out of touch with the local news here that it was sheer luck that I saw the ad on one of the panel ad spaces at the bus stop.

The first thing I did was to look it up online the minute I got home on www.musicals.nl. It is showing at the Beatrix Theater in Utrecht, which is okay for me since it's only about a 2 hour drive, and besides, Jimmy and I could always spend the night there and take the next day to check out the surroundings. The ticket prices were also fairly reasonable at about EUR40 - EUR95 per person, depending on the seats. I was really getting worked up about seeing it, so I went online to do more research.
Screenshot on www.musicals.nl
Then I found out that apparently, this was the debut of the Dutch version of my favourite musical. So everything, and I mean, everything, is in Dutch. That stopped me in my tracks a little bit...

I pondered and pondered and I didn't know if I should go. Yes, I don't mind the Dutch language and I probably know the entire musical by heart, but still... I've wanted to see the stage performance for this musical since forever and it felt that if I went ahead and watched the Dutch version of it, I would be settling. Sort of.

I wouldn't mind seeing any other stage musicals in Dutch because I think it'll be a really good experience but I really cannot bring myself to see this particular one, my first and favourite one, in a language that is foreign to me. I know that if it's a stage performance of any other musical, like Cats, Phantom of the Opera, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat or even Starlight Express, I would have clicked on "Betaal Nu" in a heartbeat.

Is that silly of me?

My old worn copy :)

It's just that I remember so clearly how I felt when I heard this musical back in the old days. The music playing on the bulky stereo, lying on the bed reading the CD inlet.

I felt the stirrings of something magical listening to Sun and Moon
Tapped my feet and bopped my head to the beat of The Heat Is On In Saigon
Fell in love to Last Night of the World
Felt torn but hopeful when I heard Please
Chuckled to the Engineer singing What A Waste
Felt a chill run down my spine when John told Chris about Kim and her son in The Revelation
And I wanted to poke the eyes out of Ellen in I Still Believe and Her Or Me

(*note: in the local representation of this musical, in place of Her Or Me, Ellen will be singing Maybe or "Toch Nog" in Dutch, a new song written by Claude-Michel Schonberg, Richard Maltby Jr. and Alain Boublil)

The inspiration behind the beautifully heartbreaking Miss Saigon

I dug out my old CD and have been listening to it again in the recent days. And it has made me more certain that I want to wait it out until the original version comes about. Because if you ask me what my first love is, I think this is it.
Although, I have to admit that I am more than a little curious about how the Dutch version of Please is going to sound like.. heh heh *winks*

I've done a post on Miss Saigon the Musical many years ago on this same blog, and here's the link, if anyone is interested:

Top 10 Songs...

Zeeks came up with an idea to do a joint-blog post for him, Melissa and myself. And the topic that he gave us for this assignment is "The Top 10 Songs On Your Ipod". He actually gave us a deadline to post it up by the 5th of June at 10:00pm. But on the 5th of June, I was too caught up with work that it totally slipped my mind so I had to persuade the two royal highnesses to postpone it to today. After a while, they agreed and so here I am~ :)

Now the thing is, when Zeeks mentioned the "Top 10 Songs On Your Ipod", he did not mention whether he meant the top 10 songs that is currently playing on my ipod or the top 10 songs that is vital that I have on my ipod...

So I'll just answer to BOTH the questions at hand... *grins*

I'll just briefly run through the current The Top 10 songs that is currently playing on my ipod right now:

David Archuleta - Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me
David Cook - Dream Big / Always Be My Baby / Time of My Life

Brewing from the fever of American Idol Season 7, I've been hooked on David Cook (the new American Idol) and David Archuleta's performances. I loved Archuleta's version of "Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me"! It was even better than Clay Aiken's version, and about a gazillion times better than Elton John's version.

As for the other David, I am hooked on his performances in the final for "Dream Big" and "Time of My Life" (the winning song). And who could forget his cover of Mariah Carey's "Always Be My Baby"??

Neil McCoy - Then You Can Tell Me Goodbye

Then there's a cover version of "Then You Can Tell Me Goodbye" which Neil McCoy did for The Casino's classic which was used in the movie Paris Je T'aime. Zeeks actually watched the movie and he asked me to download the mp3 for him. I found the original version but Zeeks found the cover version and shared with me and Mel.... I LOVE IT!~ It's so lovey dovey melancholy!~

Marie Digby - Stupid For You

I found this song on YouTube :) and it's got a catchy-feet-tapping tune to it. Haven't found a good version of it yet.

Chris Daughtry - What About Now
Graham Colton - Best Days

I accidentally found these two songs when I was watching American Idol Season 7's Idol Gives Back and they were playing these songs when showing the top 3 finalists visit to their home town. I caught snippets of the lyrics and googled them and ta-dah!~ :)

Chris Brown - With You

And finally, there's Chris Brown's "With You" :) I love the part in front when he sings "I need you, bu"... and I also like David Archuleta's version of this song.

********************
And now, I'll proceed with going through The Top 10 Song that I will always have on my iPod *grins* It was hard to narrow it down to the songs that I'm about to name now but I guess I just had to think long and hard and just think what are the songs that I would HAVE to transfer to a new mp3 player with limited storage space.

Adam Sandler - I Wanna Grow Old With You

From the soundatrack of the magnificent romantic comedy "The Wedding Singer" starring Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler. He sang that song to her when she was leaving on a plane because she thought he didn't love her. Although the song is very short and simple, the lyrics were so meaningful and romantic :)) hehehe... perfect for a sap like me...

Color Me Badd - Forever Love

This R&B group have been really successful in the early 90's and this is one of their less famous songs (as opposed to the raunchy "I Wanna Sex You Up"). They are also famous for their songs like "The Earth, The Sun and The Rain" and "All for Love".

Blessid Union of Souls - Light In Your Eyes

I heard this song long long time ago (I think that was when I was 13 or 14?? Which is like eons ago...) and I have fallen in love with it is. And there was a time when Mel and I actually drafted our own version of this song during a tuition class when we were supposed to be paying attention to add maths. I guess listening to this song makes me relive our crazy good times :) I miss those times...

Jay Chou - Lang Man Shou Ji (Romantic Cellphone) / Wo Bu Pei (I'm Not Worthy)

And on my MUST-HAVE list, there are 2 songs by Jay Chou! :) First is "Lang Man Shou Ji" from his November's Chopin album and the other one is "Wo Bu Pei" from his On the Run album (his most recent album). I guess I like them because they are so distinguished and so different...

Bon Jovi - Always

Bon Jovi's Crossroads album is their most magnificent album ever and I can be sure to say that this is their most successful album ever! Whilst "Always" is THE Bon Jovi song, they have many other hit singles as well like "Never Say Goodbye", "Livin' On A Prayer" and "I'll Be There For You" to name a few. All in all, Bon Jovi is one of the most magnificent and most awed rock bands in the history of music...

The Calling - Wherever You Will Go

Then of course, there's The Calling's "Wherever You Will Go". The Calling has many other great singles under their belt but this one is the most profound. And no matter how many great songs they have (like "Things Don't Always Turn Out That Way" and "Stigmatized"), I will never ever get sick of this one :) I'm even using it as my ringtone!

Lifehouse - Blind
Jason Wade - You Belong To Me

And finally on my Top 10 list is Lifehouse and Jason Wade (lead singer of Lifehouse) *grins* I love "Blind" but I don't know why. I also like Lifehouse's "Whatever It Takes" and "Chapter One" but this one is my favourite.
As for Jason Wade's "You Belong To Me" is from the Soundtrack of Shrek and I didn't even know it existed (because, can you imagine, I have never seen Shrek!). I accidentally found this song online and I have never gone more than 3 days without listening to it!
********************

Well here you go... my top 10 lists of songs :)
I know that this post is a little dry. But I'm a little tired because I'm mentally, emotionally and physically drained. But you know, after posting all that on music, it really does lift my spirits a bit.
So here you go, Mel and Zeeks's posts as well

More "You Belong To Me..."

I know that I posted something about this several years ago when I was in my uni days and I was watching reruns of Ally McBeal. Despite it being a nice song, I didn't think much of writing anything else that would even remotely be associated with this.

Until I found a Jason Wade mp3 :D
Jason Who!? Jason Wade = Lifehouse! :D (If you don't know Lifehouse, don't bother to read the rest of this post *hmmph*)

*ahems*
(give Melissa the EVIL EYE... "I KNOW what you are thinking!!! *continue to glare at you accusingly* You think that I'm only blogging about this because he's good looking, but I am perfectly capable of blogging about other things too! *phwek*)

Yes, Jason Wade is indeed quite good looking - especially when the haircut is right. Maybe not "quite" but "very" but it's just wordplay. Alex Band is waaaaaaaay hotter, in my books anyway. But what is most captivating about him is his distinctive voice. Coarse and deep.. Somewhat similar to Alex Band! hahahaha...

Okok... Back to the topic at hand. I've always loved the song "You Belong To Me", especially when I heard Vonda Shepard's version of it on Ally McBeal. But when I found Jason Wade's version, it shed a totally new light on the song! The song's been stripped bare of its frills and was performed acoustic *dreamy eyed*

I'm such a sap for ballads...

I couldn't find the video of it on YouTube but I found a cover version performed by someone else and it was good too *grins* Gawd... guitars are so hot *winks*
I've always said that I would learn how to play the guitar one day and I've decided that when that day comes, this is the first song that I'll learn to play :D

Don't know who this guy is but I like his version too :)

This song was also performed on the 6th Season of American Idol by a man called Sherman Pore. I saw it when it aired on TV but I didn't realize that it would be on YouTube too :) hehe... (thanks to Wikipedia, now I know~). I was moved to tears by his performance and the reason behind his stint *sobs*

Yeah yeah yeah. I've admitted it already, I AM A SAP! So???

This is the clip from American Idol :) Please prepare a piece of tissue to dab at your tears...

So sad right??? *SOBS*

I think I'm getting sappier with age *sighs*

The broken clock is a comfort, It helps me sleep tonight
Maybe it can stop tomorrow, From stealing all my time
I am here still wating though I still have my doubts
I am damanged at best, Like you've already figured out
I'm falling apart, I'm barely breathing
With a broken heart, That's still beating
In your pain, There is healing
In your name, I find meaning
So I'm holding on... I'm holding on... I'm holding on...
Barely holding on to you
I'm hanging on another day just to see what you will throw my way
And I'm hanging on to the words you say
You said that I will be ok....

Running Away

- RUNNING AWAY -
**********************************

**********************************
Don't lie and say that it's okay
It's alright if there's nothing more to say
So I'm running away
I'm leaving this place
Yeah I'm running away
I'm running away

Don't tell me I'm the one to blame
It's too late for you to make me stay
No I won't stay
So I'm running away
I'm leaving this place
Yeah I'm running away
I'm running away

Faster than you can follow me from this lonely place
And farther than you can find me, I'm leaving
Yeah, I'm leaving today

And I, I'll never let you find me
I'm leaving you behind with the past
No I won't look back again
And I don't wanna hear your reasons
Don't wanna hear you tell me why I should stay
And try, try to understand me
And try to understand what I say when I say I can't stay
I, I'm moving on from place
I'm leaving and I won't wait

I'm running away
I'm running away
I'm leaving this place
Yeah, I'm running away
I'm running away
**********************************

[Midnight Hour]

I was just watching the season 2 of Ghost Whisperer when this song was performed on one of the episodes by this group called Crimson Doves. I was hooked on it in an instant and was immediately on the Web looking for it! Hahaha... and I've been recommending it to everyone so that they can have a piece of this goodie...

Damn nice right?? I mean me... and the song too, of course *grins*

Taylor Swift

I'm hooked on country music and it's all Melissa's fault!

Hahaha... I know, I haven't blogged for eons and here I am with 2 posts back to back! Ah well.. I guess that's what temporary insomnia does to people... either that or it's just cos I'm music driven.... Hmm.. maybe I'm in the wrong field and should be doing something related to music. I just can't think of what... considering I can't play any musical instuments and I can't carry a tune if my life depended on it. That doesn't stop me from appreciating what is beautiful though :)

Anyways, I accidentally discovered Taylor Swift on YouTube. I mean, considering I am anti-radio stations because the static makes me want to vomit (and that someone as untalented as JoJo Struys can actually be a DJ on MIX Fm totally baffles me). Never mind...

I said, I accidentally discovered Taylor Swift on YouTube under the section of "Vidoes Being Watched Now" and I thought she was incredible!! :D

I know you are wondering now why I blame my Mello Bello Portobello Pomelo for my sudden interest in country music. Well... it's cause she keeps promoting it and brainwashing me!! (It's a lame excuse... she actually recommended Brad Paisley but I couldn't manage to download the songs yet and I just wanted an excuse to call her by her adorable nickname on my blog~ Hehe...).

Taylor Swift is a 19-year old singer songwriter who was introduced to the music scence in 2006. She wrote or co-wrote all the songs on her debut album entitled "Taylor Swift". How cool is that? :) I guess the song I like the most is "I'd Lie" with the most heart-warming lyrics describing an unknown crush...

**********

I don't think the passenger seat has ever looked this good to me
He tells me about his night, I count the colurs in his eyes
He'll never falls in love he swears
As he runs his fingers through his hair

I'm laughing cos I hope he's wrong
I don't think it ever crossed his mind
He tells a joke, I fake a smile
But I know all his favourite songs

And I could tell you
His favourite colour's green
He likes to argue
Born on the 17th
His sister's beautiful
He has his father's eyes
But if you ask me if I love him...
I'd lie...

He looks around the room
Innocently overlooks the truth
Shouldn't a light go on?
Doesn't he know I've had him memorized for so long?

He sees everything in black and white
Never let nobody see him cry

I don't let nobody see me wishing he was mine

I could tell you
His favourite colour's green
He likes to argue
Born on the 17th
His sister's beautiful
He has his father's eyes
But if you ask me if I love him...
I'd lie...

He stands there, then walks away

My God, if I could only say

"I'm holding every breath for you..."

He'd never tell you, but he can play guitar
I think he can see through everything but my heart
First thought when I wake up is
"My God, he's beautiful"
I put on my make-up and pray for a miracle...

And I could tell you
His favourite colour's green
He likes to argue
Born on the 17th
His sister's beautiful
He has his father's eyes
But if you ask me if I love him...
If you ask me if I love him...
I'd lie...

**********

I'm a sucker for ballads and romance *dreamy gaze*

Then there's another song also running along the same lines but the it's entitled "Teardrops on my Guitar". Even the title is like so sad already right?!

**********
Drew looks at me
I fake a smile so he won't see
That I want and I'm needing, everything that we should be
I'll bet she's beautiful
That girl he talks about
She's got everything that I've had to live without

Drew talks to me
I laugh cos it's so damn funny
I can't even see, anyone when he's with me
He says he's so in love
He's finally got it right
I wonder if he knows he's all I think about at night

He's the reason for the teardrops on my guitar
The only thing that keeps me wishing on a wishing star
He's a song in the car I keep singing
Don't know why I do...

**********

And then there's the cheeky tune of "Picture to Burn" about a breakup gone wrong:

**********
To state the obvious I didn't get my perfect fantasy
I realize you love yourself more than you could ever love me
So go and tell your friends I'm obsessive and crazy
That's fine I'll tell mine you're gay
By the way

I hate that stupid old pickup truck you never let me drive
You're a redneck heartbreaker
Who's really bad at lying
Watch me strike a match on all my wasted time
As far as I'm concerned you're just another picture to burn
**********

And of course, who could forget her hit single "Tim McGraw" in which she wrote based on an actual experience...

**********
You said the way my blue eyes shined
Put those Georgia stars to shame that night
I said "That's a lie"
Just a boy in a Chevy truck
It had a tendency of getting stuck in backroads at night
And I was right there beside him all summer long
And then the time we woke up to find that summer'd gone

When you think Tim McGraw
I hope you think my favourite song
The one we danced to all night long
The moon like a spotlight on the lake
When you think happiness
I hope you think that little black dress
Think of my head on your chest
And my old faded blue jeans
When you think Tim McGraw
I hope you think of me...

September saw a month of tears
Thanking God you weren't here to see me like that
But in a box beneath my bed is a letter you never read
Three summers back
It's hard not to find it all a little bittersweet
And looking back on all of that, it's nice to believe...
.
.
.
***********

That song just tugs at my heartstrings... Making me reminisce about something that I can't quite remember anymore...

Okays... I'm sleepy already ;) Time to knock off...

Zeeks, don't kutuk my blog anymore ok!??!?! I'm blogging I'm blogging!! Sheesh...

Oh, ooopps! I almost forgot!! She's got 2 more songs that I love too --- "Invisible" and "Our Song"!! hahaha.. make sure you guys go check it out...

Nitey nite~

On The Run

I know that this is very outdated but if I don't blog about this, I feel that I have committed the ultimate sin against music. Besides, I can't sleep and I don't know what else to do.

Jay Chou has got a new album!! It's called "On The Run" and I don't know what it means and what it reads in Chinese. It's his 8th album and he's still as good at it as ever ;) (I'm biased, I know. What's important is that I'm honest enough to acknowledge it)

I mean, I love Jay Chou's music and I think he's awesome! And I love his music and the way he mumbles his way through the lyrics. However, as much as I adore him (and I really do!), I can never bring myself to purchase his album. I wouldn't bat an eyelash if I had to fork out RM200 to buy the Miss Saigon CD and I didn't even cringe when I had to pay a booking fee of RM50 to order the Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat CD. But if you even ask me to pay RM39.90 for this CD, I wouldn't. AND I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHY!!! *tug hair* I think I need to really sit down and reflect on my stand as a hardcore music lover *sniffs*

You know, I've always thought that I was a Jay Chou fan. But what fan isn't interested in buying the tickets to his upcoming concert?? What fan wouldn't go watch all his movies in the cinema?? (Just so you know, I've only ever watched Initial D and nothing else. Not even on pirated CDs or DVDs). And when he came out to KL for a "Meet the Fans" session, I wanted to go. But then I found out from my housemate that he only signs original CDs and in order to wait for him to arrive at 5pm, we have to start waiting in line by 12pm! I mean, WTF!? Like I have nothing else better to do than to wait in line clutching a CD to my chest like some besotted fool for someone who doesn't even know me to scrawl on my CD!??! I'd rather fall asleep reading Anne Rice. When I conveyed my thoughts to my housemate, she looked at me with scorn written all over her face. And I guess that kinda strips me of any title that even remotely associates me to being a fan.... *sigh*

Anyways... this CD's not too bad :D

My favourite tracks:

Track No. 2 - Rainbow (Cai Hong)
Track No. 5 - Dandelion's Promise (Bu Gong Ying De Yue Ding)
Track No. 7 - I'm Not Worthy (Wo Bu Pei)
Track No. 9 - Sweetly (Tian Tian De)
Reinforced by the photo above... I like Jay Chou the most when half his face is obliterated from view *grins*

Michael Buble

People who know me well know that I absolutely adore Michael Buble. I love the way he croons, and I love his songs... It's amazing how someone can do such fabulous cover versions of so many hit love songs from long ago.

It'a also astounding how he's talented not only in jazzing up these one-hit wonders but also in writing his own hits. From the heart-warming single detailing how much he misses his loved one in "Home" and the feet and finger-tapping upbeat "Everything" expressing how much his loved one means to him and finally, to the heart-breaking-soul-wrenching "Lost" which was written to narrate a lost love (this song breaks my heart *sobs*)

So, on one peaceful morning, I was just getting out from my leisurely bath to be greeted by an AWFUL rendition of "Home" on MTV. The first thing that crossed my mind was that there was something wrong with my TV but as I stepped to take a closer look at the screen, I swear I felt my heart drop to my feet.

Because, right there on tv for public viewing, was a quadruplet of MORONS tearing Michael Buble's "Home" apart!!!!

Lo, and behold, the stinking morons:

Oh, I took the liberty to cross out their faces and changed their names to NoLife. It is of course, a much needed initiative on my part because of the injustice that they were doing to the song. The damage to the song is irreversible *sobs*

I know that you probably think that I'm being overdramatic here, but at least I know Chin Aun shares my sentiments because a minute later, he burst into my room yelling, "You won't believe what is on TV!!!". The look of disbelief and disgust on his face was priceless! And it was sooooooooo good to see that he shared my opinions because it's sometimes hard for us to be on the same page where music is concerned (e.g. Alex Band of The Calling!).

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a boyband hater. I loved N'Sync even before JT spread his wings and flew or Lance came out of the closet! All these while, I had NOTHING against them. Not even when they did their rendition of Uptown Girl and actually had the gorgeous Claudia Schiffer featured in their MTV tossing aside her uptown ways to follow these downtown men (I actually cringed when I typed that). But to do a cover of "Home" is the worst insult that has ever been uttered in the music industry!

Who do they think they are, trying to fix something that is not broken?!?! Who do they think they are, even thinking that they, these meagre pieces of nothing, can actually do a better job than Michael Buble!??! Are they deluded or something?!?!?!?!

And when I was emailling Melissa, we shared the same disgust for this quadruplets of crap. And when I met Zeeks for lunch, he did not fail to make me proud because he too hates them for doing this. Just so you know, all 3 of us love Michael Buble and therefore, in conjunction with this act of blasphemy, we are holding a joint blog-post on this matter. I'll link their pages as soon as they're up.

Actually, we serve no purpose doing this, except for enjoying that fragment of satisfaction of voicing our thoughts aloud on this matter.

From this day on, I hereby declare to detest each and every single to be released by Westlife and to trash them at every opportunity possible.

Brett Anderson

The man himself garners a post with his name as the title... How big is that??? *winks* Since Zeeks commented on Brett in my previous post, I thought, "What the heck... lemme put that in since I love Suede so much!".

Now... this Brett Anderson person hasn't exactly been making waves here on our beloved shores but if you're into eclectic androgynous bands from UK then you've probably heard of Suede *grins* They appeal only to a niche group of music lovers :p

I THRIVE on the sounds of Suede droning on about "Trash" and "Beautiful Ones". And if you've noticed, Suede's keyboardist Neil Codling is always the band's eye-candy representative in his own blase-androgynous kind of way. Oh.. let me indulge you...

Neil Codling - cute in a girly-gay kinda way - keyboardist for Suede

Before I veer too far away from the topic at hand, this post is on Brett Anderson, the backbone and founder of unparralled and somewhat-aneroxic looking rock band, Suede.

Brett Anderson - lead singer/frontman for Suede

Check out their music video for "Beautiful Ones"... my ultimate favourite Suede MTV. I love the electric guitar opening...

Anyway, I was just channel-surfing and I found out that Brett Anderson actually went solo and released a single entitled "Love Is Dead" which totally doesn't catch my fancy at all *sobs* I think Brett Anderson is so much more when he's with Suede. He's the ultimate embodiment of character... bringing life to songs like "Trash" (which I think was written with people like Zeeks and myself in mind... hahahaha), "She's in Fashion" and their original and first hit single, "Animal Nitrate".

Brett Anderson where he really belongs...

I don't care if people out there label them fags or what-nots. I LOVE SUEDE! :) They redefine androgyny!

**Note: You know, I harboured no ill-will toward anyone when I started this post 15 minutes ago... but my dear old lifetime best buddy, otherwise known as Zeeks, just threatened to bitchslap me on Facebook and start a war! What kind of a lifetime best buddy is that?!?!??! *fumes*

*bitchslap you back* (and hope you trip on a cement clinker that your worker left lying by the doorway) phwek! :p
*now that I have bitch-slapped you back and gotten even... I give you a token of peace-offering....
Maybe maybe it's the things we say
The words we've heard and the music we play
Maybe it's our cheapness
Or maybe maybe it's the times we've had
The lazy days and the crazes and the fads
Maybe it's our sweetness
We're Trash...
You and Me
We're the litter on the breeze
We're the lovers on the street
Just Trash...
Me and You
It's in everything we do
It's in everything we do...

While Brett Anderson may be the embodiment of everything Suede should be, this song is the embodiment of us, our lives and the millions of people out there who are just like us.
Cheers~~! To us!! And to everyone out there who aspires to be just like us *grins*

Music List :)

In conjunction with my previous post, I wanted to update more on music.
Lately, I've been hooked on several songs and I just can't seem to get enough of them! I was just contemplating which songs to put under the section of "music & me" and I just couldn't make up my mind... Then I thought, what the heck, might as well just list them all out in a post! And here I am !~ Hee hee...

First, there's this catchy girl-power song always playing on MTV's pop20 - "Potential Breakup Song" by girls duo known as Aly & AJ. Catchy as it may be, I was watching that at 12am and I was fighting to keep my eyes open... But I have to be honest... what actually caught my eye about this song and the video was that I was actually transfixed by the black and white splashes of color that seem to swirl and burst everywhere making my head spin! Hahaha... If you haven't seen the video then you probably wouldn't know what I'm talking about... Anyways...

Back to the topic at hand... then I've been digging through some old mp3 files and CD and I fell in love with The Calling once again! Or shall I say Alex Band of The Calling *mysterious smile* I have been listening to The Calling's Camino Palmero album and I'm liking it more than before :)

I've been nodding and tapping to the sounds of Alex Band crooning "So we laugh, and we smile and we play our games of sweet denial... Don't tell me we're forgiven..." from their not-quite-so-popular single simply known as "We're Forgiven". And then there's also another one that keeps playing in my mind called "Things Don't Always Turn Out That Way" which goes something like this "She's all that he wants, she's all that he needs, she's everything he just won't believe... Take away his doubt, turn him inside out, then she can see what he's been dying to say.. But things don't always turn out that way...". And of course, if you're a fan of The Calling, you would inevitably love this one:

If I could
Then I would
I'll go wherever you will go
Way up high
Or down low
I'll go wherever you will go...

If I could turn back time
I'll go wherever you will go...
If I could make you mine
I'll go wherever you will go...

(*if you have never heard this song before then I think you should crawl back under the rock you were hiding under all these years)

I would embed the video here but for some reason, the music video for this song on YouTube has been barred from being embedded anywhere else. FYI, I LOVE this video :) The girl getting the tattoo of her beau's name *ouch*... going home to find him in bed with someone else *double ouch* and finally her in a fit of anger thrashing his place and smashing his guitar *triple ouchie*! And a happy ending where she hooks up with a babe of a guy she met at the tattoo shop *dreamy* (unlike her slimeball of a bf!)

I know what you guys are thinking *point accusingly* Gimme some credit ok.. I've loved that song since eons ago before I even saw how Alex Band looked like :p But I really really love his deep husky voice. But, Chin Aun says he looks gay and when you hear that deep voice that is him, you just can't associate the voice to him.. Cis!! He doesn't look gay ok!! Not even remotely!!

I have a few other songs of theirs that I love but I'm just gonna cut this one short because it's gonna end up more like a tribute to The Calling. I've got to be fair to other music makers out there :)

Remember this song from a few months back... "Lips of an Angel" by this hard-rock band called Hinder? Anyway, that song was a huge one-time hit and a lot of people would most likely remember for quite a while. But, there is this other single by Hinder that I really like called "Homecoming Queen" which is rather meaningful... It's been on my playlist for the past 2 weeks already and so I'm sharing it with you :)

It's a shame shame shame
That our homecoming queen
Was a lot like you and a lot like me
And she never really walked on water
Guess no one really saw her

A shame shame shame
That our homecoming queen
Had a lot to prove and so many to please
She's just somebody's daughter
Looking for somebody to love her...

Before you have any hopes that I am actually gonna post any pictures of Hinder here, you can wipe that thought clear from your mind. It's not gonna happen. Unless of course, they look like Alex Band or Johnny Depp *grin* but they don't... not even remotely so. So let's not ask any more questions and just move on...

And when talking about rock music... who can forget Fall Out Boy famous for songs with the weirdest titles like "Sugar, We're Going Down", "This Ain't A Scene, It's an Arm's Race", "Our Lawyer Made Us Change The Name of This Song So We Won't Get Sued" and many more. Weird titles or not, I really like this new single by them called (brace yourself for another mind-blowing title) "I'm Like A Lawyer Always Trying To Get Off You (Me and You)". The tune is really catchy and it truly lives up to the standards of Fall Out Boy's first ever single "Sugar, We're Going Down". Like the titles, Fall Out Boy's songs are of interesting content as well...

We're the new face of failure
Prettier and younger but not any better off
Bulletproof loneliness
At best
At best

Don't ask me what they are trying to say because I truly have no idea. And since Fall Out Boy isn't exactly cover-girl material, I'm not posting any pictures either :p It's all about aesthetics baby!

And last but not least, one final band and their installment of good music...

(just so you know, I'm sleepy and tired. That's why I'm putting an end to this post. If not, I could go on till Sunday morning! hahaha)...

Ironically.... Sunday Morning is one of their hits :) Maroon 5!~

Oh darn, I'm an infantile rockhead. I've been extremely hooked on this song of theirs called "Simple Kind of Lovely". It's so groovy... heheheh... I've edited it and made it my ringtone! And then of course other than that, there's the overplayed "Wake Up Call" and "Makes Me Wonder". Also, I'm hooked on another single from their new album "It Won't Be Soon Before Long" entitled "I Won't Go Home Without You". It's more mellow and subdued then their new album's first 2 singles. But then of course, Maroon 5 actually made it big riding on the waves churned by their first single a few years back called "Harder To Breathe"and "This Love". I personally prefer slower tunes by them and a personal favourite is "She Will Be Loved" :) Before I sign off and go to bed... Let me leave you with an excerpt from "Simple Kind of Lovely".
Leaning on a tree trunk
Thinking of the same junk
Falling in and out of a dream
Back and forth I'm swaying
I'm contemplating staying
Laying and decaying when I know I must leave
Where do I aim when I shoot the breeze?
What do I calm myself at times like this?

I need a simple kind of lovely
And the thought is just a novelty

And of course a picture of them because everyone likes well-dressed gentlemen *wink*
PS: for clarification's sake, it's is soooooooooo obvious that I do not only listen to bands that look good :) See?? I am not THAT shallow... Music is, by and in itself, sublimely beautiful... irregardless of the physical attributes of ther person conveying it..
