My WebCam

Ever since I've been back in Penang, I've been hooked on Skype! Don't ask me why, I just am *shrugs* So, when I got back to PJ, I headed over to Low Yat earlier today to get a webcam to make my Skype-ing even more interesting...

I wasn't ready to fork out a lot of $$$ for this new toy... after all, I am STILL gloriously unemployed :p (I've been in this sublime state for around a month? Or maybe less... so far, I'm liking it --- except the part about the $$$) Anyway, back to the topic at hand, I was looking up and down, left and right for the perfect one.

My requirements were VERY simple:
1. Must be above 1.0M
2. Compact sized
3. Suitable for laptops and desktops --- meaning gotta have a cute clip so that I can attach it to my laptop and yet be able to stand on its own
4. Cost effective --- BELOW RM100
My requirements sure sounded simple but that ain't the case when I was hunting for the darned thing!
I went to shop after shop after shop after shop after shop... you get the idea... I saw a few from Logitech but they were waaayyy over my budget. Minimum of RM150!! Saw one from Genius but the resolution was lousy althought it was really cute ;) Checked out some from Microsoft but nothing caught my fancy. Looked at some unfamilliar brands too, like A4Tech, that had pretty cool color-schemed ones that were within budget but the resolution was not up to par as well.

Then lo and behold, I saw a box that said "1.3M Pixels Web Camera" and then I immediately looked for the price tag ... "RM60.00" *did a double take!* Sure boh?!? 1.3M at RM60!? But it was of an unfamilliar brand. Anyone heard of "KER"??? After much discussion with Chin Aun, and taking into consideration a few that we saw around, we thought we'd go for it. Checked with the technician working there and he mentioned that this model was quite popular considering the price and specifications.

After we made the purchase, we also walked around to other shops to check it out and noticed that it was selling at RM89.90 at certain places! Guess I got a bargain...
Then I went home with my new toy and gave it a little cosmetic surgery...

From this.... (so boring looking!)

Some interesting effects of the webcam...

And I like this one most of all... *grin*

My Birthday! :)

I know that those who know me are probably going "Whaa??? Your birthday!?!??! WTH are you talking about?? You're birthday's in June!"... whoopsie! hahaha... I've actually drafted this post much earlier but I haven't had the time to upload the photos until now.

Today's actual date is 14th Sept while I drafted this post (as you can see on the post date) on the 17th July. Ah well, dates are just numbers anyhoo...

Anyways, this year for my birthday, my parents didn't come down and celebrate with me. Hmmph! But Chin Aun took me to a new place for a celebratory dinner (I can understand why kids and teenagers CELEBRATE their birthdays, I mean, after all, they can't wait to grow up :p But the thing is, why do people like me -- ergo. OLD people -- celebrate birthdays?! Why are we celebrating the probability of a new wrinkle being discovered!? Hmmm... excuse my digression but you gotta admit it's something worth thinking about!)

Back to the topic at hand... Chin Aun and I 'commiserated' that grand annual event of my birthday at this place called "The Courtyard Garden" in Damansara Heights.

It's a bungalow refurbished with Balinese decor and filled with lush greenery amidst an otherwise bustling section of Selangor. Upon entering the restaurant, I felt as though we were automatically cut off from the hustle and bustle of the busy city outside.

(hey, what's that little brown mobile bag doing on the table beside the cutlery?? Opps! haha.. just so you know, that doesn't come with the decor of this place, it's more of a personalizes thing!)

And now... to my favourite part of the evening and of this post:

Finger food for the evening with sour cream 'n' onion dip

Wild Mushroom soup with croutons

Caesar salad with smoked salmon *yum*

Refreshments! :)

My main course of chargrilled beef

Chin Aun's main course of mixed grill

And of course, since it's my birthday... there'll always be this :)

Happy Birthday to me!! :)

And my birthday wish is lots of love and luck for myself and all those dear to me. I also wished for the disappearance of any wrinkles that may be part and parcel of this happy day :D

Just so you know, Chin Aun found out about this place when his company held a farewell party for one of the company's directors and he really loved it. As do I :) For those who are interested, this is a link to their website: http://courtyard-garden.com/home/

(Part 4) A Tribute iPod Fanatics (Zeeks)

Anyone who knows me well knows that I have an idiot of a friend called Tze Ko (or Zeeks if you must). Anyway, he went to the States for a friggin' holiday last month so I decided to save the blog post on his iPod and accessories until now that he is back in Malaysia.

Zeeks, we've been friends for more than 5 years now and he's just declared me as his Lifetime Best Buddy early this year (he asked me for a favour and I did it for him, only I've forgotten what it is by now). I provided him all information he needed to prep him on his to US and guess how he repaid me??

HE BLOODY FORGOT MY BIRTHDAY!!!

(he thinks I should be thankful that he is emailing me on the 28th of June, one day after he touched down even though he is so jet-lagged *hmmmph*)

Even though I'm as pissed as ever at this idiot, I shall not let my anger get in the way of appreciating something as infinitely beautiful as his iPod.

Here goes :) ....

As much as I am pissed at him, I gotta say he takes great photos!

A multi-angled view of the iPod Nano (first edition)

He's got himself the first edition of the iPod Nano with the clear crystal finishing whereas Mel's iPod Nano is the one with brushed metal finishing.

The accessories that come together with this iPod Nano

the iPod Nano with a red tune-tie :) He gave me a black tune-tie when he got his iPod and I am still religiously using it! :D

Some other coloured Tune-ties :D I was actually thinking of getting the blue one to match my iPod Mini and a pink one to accentuate my iPod but ChinAun won't let me!

And this is the final installment of my iPod Fanatics series... until someone cares to donate an iPod Shuffle *hint hint* :D

(Part 3) A Tribute iPod Fanatics (Melissa)

Finally.... the 3rd installation of my iPod tribute....

As we have seen earlier, both May Chwyn and I have iPod videos... here's to someone who's a little different... Melissa has an iPod Nano -- IN SILVER!

So sexy right??? *grin* and there are many faces to her iPod nano as well... It even has a beanie bag to lean on... from this, you can see how much Mel loves her baby. Ultimate pampering ya, Mello?? How about giving your old friend here a beanie bag too?? *winks* *grin*

iPod Nano in Jellybean Green
I believe that of all, this is Mel's favourite cover :)

iPod Nano in Sexy Black
(I seriously like this one... it really looks as though it's its second skin! so sleek!)

Anyone wants to take a wild guess what this is??

IT'S A PORTABLE SPEAKER!! :) foldable into a cube too... isn't that cute??? :)

Since we are here admiring the new iPod nano, let's take a look at iPod nano's full range. If you're into colours and tiny gadgets, then the iPod nano is for you...

If it were for me, I'd either go for the blue, pink or black one. From there, you can tell the difference in my colour preference from Mel's.

Beauty with a Good Cause :)
The red iPod nano is a special edition. $10 from every iPod Nano PRODUCT (RED) sold (4G or 8G) goes directly to the Global Fund to fight AIDS in Africa

**for further information on the Global Fund and PRODUCT (RED), log on to http://www.joinred.com/

Since this is the month of June, it is also the Melissa's birthday month :)
Here's to you, Mello...
*HUGS*
**HAPPY 25th BIRTHDAY**

Wishing you the best of 2007 and the years ahead and may your days ahead be filled with the musical beauty of your iPod nano *wink*(and hopefully, even more iPods to add to your collection) *grin*

Love you loads... *muuuuuuuuuah*

(Part 2) A Tribute iPod Fanatics (May Chwyn)

I remember the time when I was doing my industrial training in Robert Bosch... That was almost 3 years ago *reminisce*

There were a few people who were communicating with me via e-mail every single day and May Chwyn was one of them. And one of our favourite topics was IPODS! hahaha... I was so excited about my iPod mini (which was on its way back from New York) and May Chwyn was confiding in me about wanting to buy an iPod but was contemplating hard because of its cost.

Well, whaddaya know... almost 2 years later, she did get one!! :D *clap on the back* I was so happy when I saw pictures of her iPod and when she told me she got the JBL Creature Speakers, I was GREEN WITH ENVY *I'm still green with envy*

Check out her baby...

Showing off Christina with stark clarity

her iPod in a jelly-case resting on the much coveted JBL speakers
*I'm turned so green that I think the colour has become permanent*

The many facets of her iPod / Apple addiction! hehe
(Kudos to her because you'll never find me owning much original soundtracks except broadways and musicals!)

And now... a special tribute to the JBL Creature Speaker / JBL Creature Speaker II :

Available in so many different colours :) *drools*
One can only look in envy

Plenty of storage -- plenty of music :)

No engraving on this one though :(

A Pink Capdase casing --- it's all about aesthetics ;)

*** My Personal iPod Family ***

Since I'm an Apple supporter and an iPod addict, my friends would naturally have inclination towards the same things :D hahaha... I guess most people like beautiful things and you have to admit that Apple makes the most beautiful gadgets! ;)

Once you go MAC, you never go back. The sound quality that is produced by the iPod is magnifique! It's positively divine!! You can hear every decibel and if you close your eyes, the music will sweep you off your feet into a world where only sound, matters...

Once you own one... Music will never be the same again.

--------------------------------------------------------

I'm gonna posting tributes to a few of my buddies' iPods -- currently still awaiting some photos from them!! So keep your eyes peeled for the latest tributes!

So for now, it's toodle-doo~
