22nd May 2007

22nd May... Hmmm... Do you know that on this day, Chin Aun and I have officially been together for 5 years?? 5 long years ya... How time flies... It seemed like just yesterday when he was still studying in Kelantan and I was still studying in Penang. And now we are both here, stuck in the misfortunate city of Petaling Jaya, miles away from home...
To celebrate our 5th year together, we left work early and went for a nice dinner at Planet Hollywood on Bintang Walk... Though I've been here for 3 years, I have never been inside Planet Hollywood. Sure, we've always said that one day we'll go check it out, but we never had the time or the chance and now opportunity has presented itself :)
Started off just like any other day... gruelling day at the office for him and for myself... Then these came for me :)

Chocolate Flowers!

A photo of me and the bouquet taken using Chin Aun's phone...

We both got off work on the dot and I drove over to his office to pick him up. Then he drove us to Bintang Walk. Surprisingly, there wasn't any traffic jam! :) A good sign??

In the throes of my menu-madness

Planet Hollywood's Signature Starter
(the mozzarella was soooooooooo good!!!! as were the quesadilla!)

Signature Ceaser Salad
(awesome!!! the only other nice one I ever tasted was from MFM)

By the time we were done with these two appetizers, we were almost too full to eat anything else! And we both had an order of main course on the way.... each!!!

Chin Aun's Tequila Chicken
(When we were served this, Chin Aun asked to pack half of the chicken home --- so you can imagine, this is only half portion of the serving!)

My choice of main course --- sizzling beef fajita *yum*
Like him, I was too full to eat so I had to ask them to pack it up nicely for me to take home together with the Tequila Chicken after taking only 1 wrap)

We packed so much to go, that we had enough food to last us until the next day's dinner! hee hee... Ultimately, the food there wasn't bad, it wasn't bad at all! However, the service was barely mediocre. The guy who waited on us was pretty attentive, but the hostess was distant and disinterested and the girl tending the souvenir section was ill-mannered and asking for a good-hard slap.

My conclusion --- go to Planet Hollywood KL if you don't give 2-cents about customer service. If customer service is what you thrive in, this is the place you have to skip. Remember y'al, There's nothing like bad customer service to spoil a special occassion!

All that aside, I was in a great mood and nothing (not even lousy service) could spoil it :)

After 5 long years...

Awesome Cute Stuff

I went shopping just now... (for work *sigh*... not for pleasure... which explains why there is no exclamation mark after my sentence). Went to Low Yat, Sungai Wang (ughh!!) and Times Square to look for original PS2 games (don't ask me why, I'm too tired to explain) but to no avail.
Just when I thought the day was at its suckiest point, I saw something awesome!! :D

Cute hor???? :) Anyone knows what that is????

No prizes for guessing... it's a mousepad.

It isn't just any mousepad though... it's HUGE!!

(the LUNA Mousepad nice boh??? hehehe)

Check out the size difference! :) Awesome right?? I was so impressed when I saw it... and it's made out from the nice material that's really soft. The price tag on the box says it cost RM17 but the nice man sold it to me for RM15! Chin Aun saw the same thing when he went to Singapore and it costs SGD$20! Madness!!

It also comes in a really cute box... Because it's made from a soft material, you can just roll it up and put it into the box (looks like a box of biscuits to me :p)

Check it out...

Roll it up and slide it in

voila!~

damn cute right???? I so syok with the box! hehehe...

Chin Aun also saw something else in the shop that is super-duper cute... It was just sitting there gathering dust. I guess that's cos most people go to Low Yat for serious IT business but us two jokers are just mucking around and it's people like us who buys things like this from Low Yat :D hehehe...

It's a CAMERA BAG!!!

Can you imagine if I own this super, top-of-the-line digital camera with 15megapixel and 10x optical zoom and looks really techie? I wonder if the camera would feel insulted if I put it in such an adorable bag... My camera's the outdated 3.2mp with typical 3x optical zoom by Nikon (Nikon rules!! It is still in a fabulous working condition after so many years and so many times of falling down!) so I think it feels right at home in this homey bag :) Damn cute, really cannot tahan! I've put aside my dowdy black leather nikon camera case and replaced it with this!

There's no way Chin Aun will use my camera now *evil laughter*

Life as it is...

Life couldn't get much better than this...

My definition of a good day :)

No... wait... life can get better than this... hee hee...

It's been a while since I last enjoyed a good book, really savoured the delectablity of coffee and chilled to the wonders of music. And it's also been a while since we've had some together-time...

An even better day :D

After a few long weeks working my a** off, it's a good way to chill for the weekend. Sure, I have niggling thoughts at the back of my mind but at least there was something non-work related involved. Don't get me wrong, I love my job. But I also love me-time... And I have SERIOUSLY been lacking in that department!!

Nothing that a good book, some blogging, and a dose of music, coffee and some together-time can't solve :)

Hope everyone had a great weekend and here's to a great week ahead!~

iPod Accessories

I'm blogging at 2am because I can't decide on which iPod accessory to get *mad laughter* Don't get me wrong, it's not like I have so much money to spend that I have nowhere else to spend it on and decide to randomly buy accesories for my second baby. It's also not like I have so much time on my hands that I have nothing better to do that I want to stay awake at 2am and think of iPod accessories.

It's just that when you have it, you have this urge to get little-somethings to make it more complete. Kinda like getting a PSP -- you'll want to get more games for it along with casings and etc. Well, it's kinda like having a baby when you'll want to dress her up in little dresses and buy her cute shoes... get my drift??
I actually got a casing for it already.. and it was not easy to find, mind you! I went to 1-Utama, Digital Mall, and Low Yat to search for casings but there weren't much around. I even went hunting back in Penang but to no avail. Then when I got back here; I went to MidValley and there was this shop called "MAChines" and it was AWESOME!! So many different types of accesories there; I didn't to leave...

Anyways, I got a PINK casing from Capdase for it :

So pretty right? ;) hehehe.. I looked high-and-low, left-and-right for it ok! it HAD BETTER be pretty!!

It came in this packaging -- which is really cute. Comes with a strap too but I left it in the car.

I also bought the iPod power adapter -- the ORIGINAL one.. ;) hehe... Didn't want to risk blowing up my iPod with compatibles *bluek*

I also got a set of JVC Jelly Headphones and a pink wheel for storing the headphones (I couldn't afford the original iPod in-ear headphones) but I left them at the office so no chance to take a photo of it.

Now I am looking to get a new set of speakers for it... Looking at a white one.. Saw this cute Yamaha one that's in the shape of a cube but when I looked for reviews of it on the Internet, it was quite negative :( -- check out the pic... cute right?? :)

The Yamaha NX-A01

Any recommendations anyone? I actually like the iPod hi-fi but it's so huge! (not to mention so damn expensive!!) I need something lightweight so I can bring it along when I go back to Penang. I'd like to have something lightweight but can blast my music as well.. Also, something that isn't too pricey. I'm currently using the Sonic Gear one but I don't really like it cos whenever I dock my iPod there, it sometimes malfunctions :( I'm considering one maybe from Altec Lansing but it's really pricey? I like the JBL Creature speakers too but they are too huge. What do you guys think? Any recommendations??

Zeeks -- I'd like another tune-tie ;p preferably a PINK one!!! -- on top of some other accessories as well ok!! :p

An Awesome-Something

I know I haven't been blogging consistently for the past months... and I know my last post was like a couple of weeks back (or was it months?) I forget...
It's just that I haven't had much inspiration to blog and basically, there is nothing much interesting happening in my life that has impassioned me to post anything. Sure, sometimes, some things happen and I take some photos and think about blogging but that's about it... I just think about it and I can't bring myself to do anything about it.

Well... THAT IS ABOUT TO CHANGE! :) I AM GOING TO START BLOGGING AGAIN!!! *muauahahaha* (besides, if I don't continue blogging, my command of the English language would be taking a major skydive)

Ah well... actually, something awesome happened lately and I JUST HAVE TO blog about it. If I don't, I will rasa bersalah to myself :p hehehe... I feel so tired and so stoned but I know if I don't blog about it now, I'll probably have to wait another weekend :( So I'm putting aside my tiredness and shoving my stoned-ness into a box and here I am :D

And that awesome-something that warranted this blog post is....

*drumroll please*

**LET'S HAVE A MOMENT OF SILENCE & BASK IN ITS MAGNIFICENCE***

Have you seen anything that carries such a magnitude of sublimity?!?!? I could stare at it all day and not get bored. It's like my ultimate dream come true... The only experience that I have ever had that could contest the this is my first glance of Sleeping Beauty's Castle in Disneyland. (please note that I deliberately took a photo of it when it was playing The Calling's "Wherever You Will Go" because Alex Band is sooooo soooooo fine... hahaha... (of course he isn't as fine as Johnny Depp but I do not have Johnny Depp's picture in my iPod so that's that)

Anyone who knows me knows that I have been oogling and lusting after the iPod since goodness-knows-when but I have been too scroogey to buy it (it so pricey!). Besides, my trusty old iPod mini is still in excellent working condition and it wouldn't seem fair to it to buy a new one...

My little baby's going to be 3 years old already...
I don't know why, but I just love the iPod so much... All other MP3 players don't catch my fancy and the only one that I actually even like a little is just the Samsung K5 because of the built in speakers and the flip mechanism. Other than that, it's ZILCH!

So now I have the new iPod video and the iPod mini in Blue (3rd generation). Anyone cares to donate an iPod nano and an iPod shuffle? :D Then my collection will be complete (if there's someout out there who's willing to donate each item in different colour, I would be eternally grateful *grin*) -- okok.. I won't be so greedy.. Donate to me, I'll share ;)

Actually, I didn't buy the new iPod video. Chin Aun got it for me *beam* He went to Singapore on a company trip for training and visited his brother when he was there. So his brother took him shopping for the iPod -- the 80G one too! *cartwheels* ... *fall flat on my face but still get up smiling because my iPod has obliterated my sense of pain*. He also got loads of other stuff for me (which he told me over the phone, but he never mentioned that he got the iPod too! hehehe...)

You know... I just noticed that both my iPods are not bought in Malaysia. And both are gifts from people who went on trips. My aunt went to New York and bought me the iPod (okok... I called her everyday when she was there and hounded her for it cos I wanted to get the engraving done.. but still; it's a gift!) and now this iPod is from Singapore :D hehe.. So Zeeks, you're going to US right?? I would love to have an iPod shuffle from there ;) hehe.. Anyone going anywhere else????

Some of the other stuff that Chin Aun got for me from Singapore:

Winnie the POOH tea-sets :)

Winnie the POOH bag

Winnie the POOH mobile thingies.. :)

POOH STUFF!! WAH... HAPPINESS!! *GRIN*
I didn't know Winnie the POOH was so hot there :D hehehe... I love them!! So if any of you goes to Singapore; please buy more POOH stuff for me.. you know I'm a sucker for it :) hehehe...

Anyways, I'll be going to fondle (for lack of a better word) with my iPod's sleek curves (damn... this sentence sounds so obscene O_o) so it's toodles!~ :)
On an end note:
LET'S UNITE & SWITCH! MAC RULES!!

Note: Check out the left-panel of my blog in the "I want I want I want" section. I can now use the strikethrough format for the sentence "the new iPod" *grin*

Travelogue : Trip to US-Korea 2006 (Part 3)

i know that this post is loooooooong looooooooooong overdue ... but hey! at least I am making effort right??? ;))
I stayed in Anaheim Hills (which is in Orange County) where one of my cousins is (the rest are scattered all over) because she's getting married :)
this was where I stayed when I was in Anaheim
I was supposed to head over to San Francisco to see the Golden Gate .... BUT ..... I didn't (due to time constraints). If we went down to SF, we probably couldn't make it back in time for my cousin's wedding in Riverside.

So it's "bye-bye" to SF and "hello" to ...

San Diego
:D

The San Diego Aerospace Museum

The Hotel del Coronado *dreamy smile*

Mom and I taking a shot at the dreamy haven of a hotel
Mom was like "all right, all right, enough with the photos! I'm hungry!" See the pained expression on her face??? Hmmph..
This ship was apparently used in some movie or another -- I was told when I was there but I have forgotten...
This was where we had our yummylicious lunch! :D
A flower made from a stalk of leaf
There was this man sitting by the side of the restaurant making miscellaneous shapes from leaves and he gave this to me...
After we left San Diego's Maritime Museum and Anthony's, we proceeded to San Diego Old Town where we got a glimpse of what San Diego was like back in the olden days:
The buildings there are all single storey and the base used for building is MUD! can you imagine that!? It will corrode with time (the rain and wind)...
Also, it seems that most these buildings are authentic! They were specially 'lifted' from their original location and flown and deposited here to create "San Diego Old Town"

O.o Amazing, ain't it?

My last glimpse of San Diego Old Town before I headed back to Orange County...

It's been a while...

It seems like eons since I last updated my blog... It's just that I have been so busy lately that I barely even have the time to sleep, much less have the inspiration to write anything witty or funny here. But I so friggin' miss blogging!!!!
My daily routine runs along the lines of this:
Wake up -- reality dawns that I slept like a log and slept thru the alarm -- jump outta bed and take a quick bath (for those who know me, you know how challenging it is for me to take a quick bath!) -- try to find something decent to wear and gussy up for work -- drop ChinAun off and head off to work -- get stuck somewhere along Old Klang Road and curse those damn drivers who can't stick to their own damn lanes -- reach office and reply emails, chase suppliers, attend meeting after meeting after meeting and do just about everything else too -- then, whaddaya know, it's 7pm! -- try to finish up as much as I can before I pack up and head home -- Federal = TRAFFIC JAM, Jln Templer = TRAFFIC JAM *curse* Take Kerinchi Link and waste RM1.60 -- Fetch ChinAun -- grab dinner -- head home -- bathe (a longer, more leisurely bath :p) -- dry hair -- damn! it's 12am! -- SLEEP....

and wake up the next morning to the same routine...

but of course, the routine differs sometimes... I may head to work but then get to go for trade visits and all... and sometimes, I don't use Old Klang Road to go to work but take NPE and waste another good RM1.60. And sometimes, when I get so weary, I pack up by 6:30pm and head on home for some rest. That is generally what my life has become... I live solely for weekends... Sure, most of the times, I love my job... but I get tired too... so I guess I'm only human.. At least I no longer wake up in the morning and go "Hm... I wonder if I can pull off a sick-leave today?".. more like "Shit, I better get to work early and get -whatever it is that I am supposed to do- done before the meeting at 10am".

I'm a corporate slave!!!
*break into pitiful sobs*
I miss sleeping till noon and those times when I can laze around at home and watch tv-series with Jiun... or sit tapping away on the comp sending long crappy emails to Mel and BeeSung. I still sit tapping away on the comp at work, just for a range of different reasons *hmmph*
But I guess working here and the things that I do... They do give me a sense of gratification that I have never known before...

Anyways, just for formalities sake; here are some LOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNGGGGGGG overdue photos that I took last year on my trip to US and Korea...

Photos taken during my cousin's wedding at Mission Inn:

Mom and I in the "President's Chair"

Dad and I in the same chair ;)

whoopsie... looks like there isn't much photos after all :p
will upload other photos another time :D hehehe
Promise to update my blog again soon...

My unemployed self and other serious issues

Enough about the phone issue. There are more serious issues at hand….

I know that I have promised to upload more photos from my trip to the States and to Seoul but I really haven’t had the time (and no, I am not making a mockery of the situation by equating being jobless and not having enough time. I am actually quite serious about this *hmmph*)

I haven’t had the time to resize the photos that I wanted to upload and the Taiwan earthquake didn’t help matters. In addition to that, I have been loyally playing chauffeur to Chin Aun and my sister. The week before Christmas, I was busy making some hand-made Christmas pressies (last minute work!) to my buddies. And most importantly, I have been busy JOB HUNTING! A part of me likes being jobless… There are no words to describe the euphoria of waking up at 3pm and spending the entire day either sprawled on the ground reading a novel or lounging by the balcony whilst tinkering on the computer – with a cup of coffee within arm’s reach.

(( most of you know that I am currently jobless *grin* Most of you would know since I have been ranting about resigning ever since October. So sick of being the sorry target of crimes in SS2! Urgh! -- long story -- Freelance work doesn’t cut as being employed *groan* Anyone got any recommendations?? Anyone wants to hire me??? Anyone who knows of anyone who wants to hire me??? *grin*))
Another part of me longs to be employed so that I don't have to scrimp and worry about $$$ anymore. I went to Starbucks on Sunday for a drink and chitchat with a mentor which I haven't seen in years and I wanted to buy her a cuppa. I opened my purse and peered in and whaddaya know, I only have RM5 (in 1-ringgit notes and coins!) *gulp* And in my haste of hopping out of the car, I forgot to ask Chin Aun for some 'allowances'. In the end, I felt so ridiculous having to use the credit card to pay for a couple of drinks. Sheesh... imagine my mortification at night when I had to tell Chin Aun "Bie ar, I used the credit card to buy coffee just now". Take it from me, it was NOT a good conversation. Especially the part where he tried to hide a smirk behind his hand.
Conversations like this are becoming more frequent, of late. Only yesterday, Chin Aun dropped me off at Cold Storage to buy some eggs and I had to turn to him with my palm facing-up while saying "Gimme some $$$ please". He doesn't want me to go back to Penang but at the rate I am going, I HAVE to go back to Penang or I'll bankrupt him! Imagine the agony when I walked into Topshop and found the most fabulous pair of pants only to hastily put it back when I saw the price tag and remembered my financial situation! (it's no longer a situation -- it's classified as poverty! In M'sia, the poverty rate is RM1500/month and I'm 'proudly' ranked at RM0.00/month! *screech*)
Initially, I thought of only getting a job after Chinese New Year. Mom's idea. She thinks it would be helpful if I started work only after CNY because I wouldn't have to worry about CNY holidays and etc (Me thinks she wants to make me clean the rooms at home :p). But I don't think I can survive until CNY if I continue lounging here. I would be fine in Penang cos everything's always fine-and-dandy in Penang. "No Worries, mate! "
*Sigh*
***********************
Ohyeah... Another serious matter. As you all know, it's 2007 now and CNY is just around the corner. Every year, at this time, the orphanages and old folks' homes around M'sia are in dire need of help.
I know that many of you will be getting your bonuses at that time. Perhaps we should rethink (I'm including myself here, poor or not) our expenditure. Personally, I am against giving cash (an experience with a nurse taught me better than that). The old folks' home in Taman Jubilee in Penang (situation in Lip Sin Garden) often hands out a list of things that the people are in need of: Milo, milk, diapers, rice, crackers etc. It would be good if all of us could round up different orphanges and old folks' homes to get the different lists and take turns contributing. Set a weekend to purchase some of the things that they need and bring them personally over.
C'mon people... I'm not asking you to spend thousands of ringgit buying things that these people don't need. They need the things that we need too, just that they can longer earn a living. We've been blessed in various different aspects. Just look back at 2006, and count the times you've been blessed. Perhaps it's time to do a little for the people out there who really need our help?
I'd rather us spend our money buying these people the necessities that often elude them than buy me a new mobile. And you know what? I'm really serious about this.

This thing called "covetousness"

Thou shalt not covet.

The no. 10 commandment of the Bible’s 10 Commandments.

(mouth becomes dry)

The hardest commandment (in my opinion) to abide by…

*sigh*

How can anyone NOT covet?!?!?!?

So I figured, before I become any deeper in sin, I’m going to post a little something here and hopefully, one of you bountiful souls out there can make a generous donation to me *grin* so that I can start on a clean slate in the brand new year.

Good idea???? *GRIN*
I thought so too!

The Item In Question:

Remember how I lost my phone and had to settle for this silly black brick for a phone (that I am currently using now)? Anyways, Sony Ericsson just released this magnificent addition to its product line and I’m getting the vibe that I got when I bought my Samsung E530.

The Samsung E530 (the phone that broke my heart when it got stolen):

Can u see how beautiful it is? My heart aches to just think about it… *sniff sniff*

The Samsung E900 (the one I’m using now):

Although many people think this phone is so sleek and sexy, it’s just a shiny black sliding brick that costs a bomb to me…

Then Sony Ericsson released this:

The Sony Ericsson Z610i

I’m really not that impressed when I saw this… it’s just another shiny black brick; albeit a clamshell one

And then… I saw this… and my heart skipped a beat.*.*.*.
It’s still fluttering, by the way…

OMG! Would anyone please look at how beautiful that is?!?!?! I mean, in size, my Samsung E530 is more compact; but this one is sooooooo PINK!!!!
*swoon*

At the moment, I’m trying to talk Chin Aun into buying it for me. The deal is, I’ll give him the shiny black brick in exchange for this *grin* Isn’t that the best deal anyone’s ever had??

(oh yeah, I got bored with my shiny black brick so I stuck pink diamantes on the back… So I think Chin Aun is gonna want me to get rid of those first)

For those of you who didn’t know, that’s the tribal emblem of eternal happiness

(nah… I’m just BS-ing. Anyone fell for it??? *grin*)

******************************

BUT!!! I am not BS-ing about the ‘generous donation’ *grin* In fact, I have never been more serious! I hear December, January and February are the months of bonuses :) I need some lovin'!!! anyone care to share the love????
